What's new and better in Appcues: September 2026

What's new
- Run your own JavaScript inside a Flow or Embed
- Build your own analytics dashboards, or ask Appcues AI to build them
- Key Moments: the milestones that matter, defined once
- Campaigns and Tactics: one outcome, many paths
- Add a Retention card and see who comes back
- Know when a live experience breaks
- Get notified by email or Slack when experiences go live
- See the paths users take through your product, page by page
- Hand Appcues AI a mockup, a page or an old Flow, and it builds from that
What's better in the builder
- Selectors. The builder ignoreddata-appcuesanddata-testidattributes when generating a selector, so you had to rewrite it by hand to use them. It now picks them first.
- Build URLs.Appcues AI didn't always ask for a build URL when it built an experience, so opening that experience from the extension could fail without an error. It now reuses the build URL of your last experience, or asks for one if you don't have one.
- Builder panel. The floating side panel covered large modals and Embeds wherever you dragged it. It now collapses and docks to the left or right of the screen.
- Page navigation.Sending users to another page from a button or image meant typing the page's URL. Navigation mode lets you browse to the page instead.
- Icons.A large standalone icon meant using a rich text emoji. The builder has an Icon block, and you can upload your own icons as SVG.
- Image sizing.New images default to Fit instead of Fill, and a Fixed mode sets an exact width.
- Bullet colors.Bullets could inherit white from the step styling and vanish. They now match the text, or take a color you set in the Design tab.
What's better in your experiences
- Large experiences.Flows 2.0 experiences and Embeds with many steps were slow to start: a 10-step Flow could take about 7 seconds. It now starts in under a second.
- JavaScript actions.A snippet on a button, image or text had to be paired with moving to the next step or closing the experience. It can now be the only action, so the experience stays open.
- Localization.Image actions, such as a link URL, can be set per language.
- Launchpads.Flows 2.0 experiences can now be selected from the Launchpad's Flow list.
What's better in dashboards
- Pages in charts.Funnel, Metrics and Retention cards could only count events. They can now count visits to a page.
- Dashboard text.Add a text block to a dashboard to say what it's for and what each section shows.
- Explain this chart.Pick it from a chart's menu and Appcues AI explains what the chart shows.
- Shared dashboards.Teammates had no way to know a new team dashboard existed. They can now get an email or Slack notification when one is shared.
What's better in campaigns and Key Moments
- Objectives. An objective's Key Moment and direction were locked once set, so a misconfigured objective meant starting over. Both are now editable. Readings from before the change aren't comparable with readings after it.
- Event attributes.Setting an event trigger or Key Moment on an event attribute meant knowing its name. The field now suggests attributes seen in the last 30 days.
